Man of the match, Phil Jones, highlights Manchester United's problems

Phil Jones scores the only goal against Shakhtar Donetsk
Manchester United scored their first goal and won their first game in three last night against Ukrainian team Shakhtar Donetsk. Phil Jones, playing once again in midfield, was considered man of the match by most. He performed well, but when a 21 year old center back playing out of position is your best player; you've got problems.

Valencia not pulling his weight

Is Valencia about to create a goal? No. (via)

Antonio Valencia was highly praised after his performance against Bayer Leverkusen and there were some moments on Sunday against Spurs when he beat defenders with power and pace. Arsenal are playing like Champions.

Wilshere broke down the right, chasing a through pass. Collecting the ball he moved into the area with only one thing on his mind, get a shot at goal. Luckily the Marseille defense were happy to oblige and allowed him to cut back onto his favoured left side. He lifted the ball with a delightful, delicate flick and sent it spinning over the keeper and into the top corner. 30 seconds and 1- nil to the Arsenal.

Manchester United's season starts to take shape

With Manchester United suddenly finding themselves five points from top, were pundits premature in dismissing their title chances?

The hyper-criticism of Manchester United has led to an incredible amount of football pundits to write their season off. It is understandable that the departure of Sir Alex Ferguson was going to bring the microscope over his successor David Moyes, but the reaction from some parts of the media has sounded as if they are hoping he fails just so they have a good story to fill their columns with.

The ghost of Sir Alex

It was always going to be tough for David Moyes, attempting to fill the biggest shoes in the history of football. He is under a constant reminder of Sir Alex Ferguson.
