Here are my predictions for the
Champions League group fixtures for Tuesday 5th November 2013. Feel
free to add your own.
Group A
Real Sociedad 1 - 3 Manchester
United
Man Utd, particularly Van Persie
and Rooney, are starting to show some form and ruthlessness in front of goal. Sociedad
defended poorly in the opposing tie and were lucky to only lose by 1 goal. They
won’t be that lucky again. However, United still find it hard to defend so won’t
keep a clean sheet.
Shakhtar
Donetsk 1 – 1 Bayer 04 Leverkusen
Leverkusen walloped
Shakhtar 4 nil in the opposing tie and that result must give the Germans a
psychological edge. However, Shakhtar are strong and consistent at home where
they play with confidence.
Group B
FC
Copenhagen 0 - 2 Galatasaray
Galatasaray
won with ease in the opposing feature and even though they are away I expect
them to do so again. Being tighter defensively when playing away from home will
ensure a clean sheet and a couple of goals.
Juventus 1 - 4 Real
Madrid
Real Madrid
counter attacking football will come to the fore in a game Juventus must win.
Soaking up the pressure and unleashing Bale and Ronaldo’s pace, power, and
ruthless finishing will see them score a lot of goals tonight. I think Tevez
will score for Juventus because he seems to have a habit of doing so when he
feels the need to prove something; he hasn’t scored in this competition since April
2009
Group C
Olympiakos 1 - 1 Benfica
Playing for
second place in the group, this is a must win game for both teams and hence it
will be an edgy close encounter. Like the opposite fixture this one will be a
draw.
Paris Saint
Germain 6 - 0 RSC Anderlecht
PSG are
scoring goals for fun in this competition and having put 5 past Anderlecht in Belgium
I can’t see anything other than another easy victory for the French team.
Group D
Man City 3
- 0 CSKA Moscow
Manchester City were electric against
Norwich at the weekend, as they have been in all their home games this season.
Their European form tends to be worse but with the added incentive of shutting
up some racist Russians they will push hard for 90 minutes.
Viktoria Plzen 0 - 5 Bayern Munich
I cannot see the European Champions doing anything other than smashing a lot of goals past the Czech team.
